new drug

i found a new drug and my supplier is Malcolm Guite. He is a poet and singer-songwriter living in Cambridge. He is a priest, chaplain, teacher and author of various essays and articles about contemporary Christianity, and a new book on Theology and Imagination called Faith Hope and Poetry. He has also given a series of lectures on the inklings.

the inklings we a group of authors, poets, teachers, and intellectuals who met together regularly at the eagle and child to share what they were writing. as they drank their favourite beverages and smoked, they would critique each, often arguing about the style and the content of whatever was being presented.

the inklings were comprised of, among other people who would drift in and out of the group, Charles Williams, Dorothy Sayers, Owen Barfield, C. S. Lewis, and J. R. R. Tolkien. Guite suggests in his lecture series that these brilliant thinkers have had, and will continue to have a huge impact on christian thought and its impact on the world.

and so the journey begins.
